Clearloop Arcadia South Solar

Bringing the local community enough solar capacity to power approximately 1000 homes with clean energy for 40 years

Clearloop's Arcadia South project will bring 4.9 million watts (4.9 MWdc) of solar capacity—enough to power approximately 1000 homes with clean energy for 40 years—to the local community of Bienville Parish, Louisiana. Bienville Parish is located in an area intersected by I-20—one of the nation's most critical trade and transportation corridors. With an economy that has relied heavily on fossil fuels, it has the potential to be a new, welcoming home for clean energy generation, protecting the area's beautiful environment as well as its culturally diverse citizens.

Clearloop works to accelerate the greening of the US electricity grid in partnership with companies of all sizes by investing in American communities that need it the most. The grid is the biggest, near-term opportunity the nation has to decarbonize its economy at scale, requiring the investment of new, clean energy projects. While many companies are ready to take responsibility for their carbon footprint and offset their environmental impact via clean energy, the process can be hard, confusing, and expensive.

Clearloop aims to simplify the process, making it easy for companies to offset their emissions and achieve their sustainability and ESG goals. Once a company measures its footprint, Clearloop calculates a solar capacity (in watts) to “reclaim” it. This capacity is translated into a one-time payment, which directly funds the construction of new solar projects, in exchange for the equivalent lifetime environmental attributes, received at purchase.

Not only is each company’s investment supporting new renewable energy projects, it’s also supporting the equitable transition to clean energy. Today, 85% of solar energy is concentrated in ten states, excluding many communities from its environmental, social, and economic benefits. By shifting the focus of corporate investments to regions of the country with disproportionately carbon-intense electricity production, Clearloop intends to achieve deeper, faster emissions reductions per installed MW capacity, bring good-paying clean energy jobs, and spur economic investment in regions of the country that vitally need them.

Clearloop’s methodology was created in conformance with the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol Project Standard and improves on learnings and best practices from established GHG accounting programs and carbon offset standards and methodologies. Clearloop is also a CDP-accredited solutions provider.
